Simon Proctor has more than twenty years' experience in web application development and leadership roles. He strongly believes in making sure his team is guided and supported to enable them to succeed. He is a solution-oriented leader with an eye for finding the best outcome for all stakeholders. Senior Developer / Software Architect

  • Successfully migrated the core platform from fixed infrastructure to AWS, enabling the platform to handle 10x peak seasonal traffic without downtime by implementing auto-scaling groups and AWS-native architecture.
  • Architected a bespoke QA environment system to ensure GDPR compliance, replacing production-data clones with programmatically generated datasets via API. This eliminated the need for testing in production and secured the platform's data integrity.
  • Worked in the new Basket and Checkout systems learning Java in the process.

Activities

I enjoy reading and writing short stories and games. I am an avid role player and enjoy all forms of gaming. I've given a number of talks on the Raku programming language and am an active member of the Raku community.
